Mentally Challenged taken over Kumasi?

Mentally challenged taken over the streets of Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti Region whereby concerns have been raised about the safety of pedestrians and other road users. Residents say one is likely to find a lunatic roaming the streets within every 100-metre interval; the activities of these mentally deranged persons had become a nuisance to them, and have thus called on city authorities to act swiftly. Some of the inhabitants complained about the nuisance and danger such persons pose to them adding that Kumasi is fast deviating from its claim to fame as the Garden City of Ghana. Some of the residents who spoke to j24newsgh on Tuesday, indicated that, they sometimes have to protect themselves from attacks from the mentally challenged. Even they attacked them when they try to avoid them. Families have refused to cater for them while the state lacks rehabilitation structures for them.

Homeless residents seek refuge in Church -Accra.

Hundreds of residents living at Glefe, a  slum in Ablekuma West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday were rendered homeless as a result of a demolishing exercise. The demolition was undertaken by the municipality to pave way for the construction of a community centre. The exercise was supervised by a combined security personnel from the Ghana Police Service  and Ghana Armed Forces. The location is a refuse dumpsite which has been earmarked for reclamation to be used for viable economic activities  But it has been encroached by some residents in the community. Some of the affected residents including children were compelled to seek refuge at an uncompleted church building . Founder of 'Aban Denden Prayer Camp  Rev. The General Secretary of the biggest Opposition Party in Ghana, the  National Democratic Congress (NDC),  Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has graduated from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College with a Master of Science degree in Defence and International Politics. Two stowaway teenagers in police grips

Two teenagers are in the custody of the police in Tema for attempting to stow away to Belgium. The two, aged 15 and 16, were intercepted midway their voyage aboard MSC Dymphia vessel from San-Pedro in Cote d’Ivoire to Antwerp in Belgium. They were found hiding in the engine compartment of the vessel during a routine inspection by the crew and were later handed over to another vessel, MSC Katyanyni, at the port of Antwerp in Belgium which was bound for the Tema Port. The pair, who are said to hail from Takoradi and Cape Coast in the Western and Central regions had no travel documents on them. According to the Tema Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Ms Belinda Adwoa Sika Anim, the two had been handed over to the police in Tema. Prestea-Mpohor- Takoradi road blocked on Tuesday

Residents of communities along the Apowa-Mpohor road on Tuesday blocked road to prevent vehicular movement. The blockade, was on the road that linked Prestea Junction to Mpohor township , Takoradi and it environs,according to the residents, the exercise was embarked to put forward their grievances to authorities on the terrible nature of their road. The residents complained, that since the President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, cut sod to commence  the construction of the project from Kejebir-Mpohor in 2018, no substantial work has been done on the said road by the contractor; JPP Construction Limited.  According to them, the contractor has been lackadaisical towards the  project, and on  that aggravating the deplorable nature of the road. Residents of Promise land cries.

Residents of Promise Land, a community within the Ashaiman municipality are up in arms with a Presbyterian Church in the area and a hotel over the blocking of alternative access routes to the community. At a press conference, the residents accused the two entities of “caging them”, a situation they said, was depriving them of their basic right to access their properties and homes. They claimed talks with the leadership of the church to release some portion of their property to be used as an access route have not yielded any positive result as the church declined. “We have other two roads linking the communities, but now it has been blocked. There is no other road except this one. Nkawie:lifeless body found in girlfriend's room

Police at Nkawie in the Ashanti region are investigating the death of a 20-year-old man found lifeless in his girlfriend’s room. The body of Kofi Nsiah was discovered on Wednesday at Mpatuam in the Amansie West District — where his girlfriend, whose name was given as Mummy lives with her sister. Mummy, 18, who is three months pregnant, has since been taken into custody as part of police investigations. The deceased had gone to spend the night with the suspect after he discovered her sister was out of town. “I was told by Mummy that the deceased who was lying in the bed was not responding to calls after several hours… So I hurriedly informed my mother of the development only to be told he is dead,” narrated sister of the suspect who only gave her name as Mercy. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Toase Government Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

Ga East MCE lock gate as about 80% staff report to work late on Tuesday. Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga-East Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, Janet Tulasi Mensah (Hon.)  On Tuesday lock ed the main gate  at the Assembly premises as most  Staffs and workers reported to work after 9 am. Speaking to Oman news / j24newsgh, the MCE disclosed that, she got to office at about 7:30 am only to find out that about 70-80% Staff and Workers has not reported to work. According to her, the phenomenon has been going on for long and it can not be entertain any longer as a nation. Ghana Manganese Company to starts operations- minister The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has rescinded its decision to shut down the Ghana Manganese Company (GMC). The sector Minister, Kwaku Asoma-Cheremeh, said the decision was reversed following meetings with the company and some stakeholders. Mr Asoma-Cheremeh on Monday announced the shutdown of the company for allegedly causing revenue loss of about $360 million (GH¢1.94 billion) to the state between 2010 and 2017. According to him, the country lost $12.8 million in royalties due, $79 million in corporate taxes due and $6.1 million in dividends. However, the Chief Operating Officer of the Company, Benjamin Atsu Quashie, denied the allegations saying that the company paid $31 million as corporate tax and $17 million as royalties before December 31, 2018. Announcing the decision to allow the GMC resume work, Mr Asomah-Cheremeh said the company has agreed to expedite action towards resolution of the issues raised...

Kwahu accident 4 dead, 7 injured

At least four persons, all traders, have been confirmed dead while seven others are in critical condition in a fatal accident along the Kwahu Tafo-Nketepa Road in the Eastern Region. Four of the injured including the driver are receiving treatment at Kwahu Tafo Clinic while the rest including a pregnant woman and a child, who are in critical conditions, have been rushed to the Atibie Hospital and St.Joseph Hospital in Koforidua. The accident occurred Friday at about 3:00pm when a faulty tipper Truck registered GM-5026-12 carrying traders from Miaso to Nketepa failed break while descending a hill and somersaulted . The shaft reportedly detached from the vehicle. The deceased, all male, were sitting on the farm produce being transported at the bucket of the truck. According to the driver, the truck was faulty hence was undergoing repairs at the mechanic shop but he was pressured by the traders to intervene to convey their produce to the market.

Kyeremekrom Chief appeals to Government to consider nearby villages in developmental projects in its annual plans.

The Chief of Kyeremekrom in the Bono region, Nana Kwame Kyeremeh has appealed to MCE of Sunyani municipality to consider those in villages when drawing their arteries. Nana Kyeremeh said this during the grounds durbar to commission the rural electrification project at Kyeremekrom a village in the Sunyani East constituency in the Bono region. The project which seeks to extend electricity to Kyeremekrom and its surrounded villages was in fulfilment of the campaign promises from the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Hon Kwasi Ameyaw Kyeremeh and the NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2016 general elections. According to him, the people of Kyeremekrom and its surrounded villages lack social amenities and the most of it all is good drinking water.
