Kwahu accident 4 dead, 7 injured

At least four persons, all traders, have been confirmed dead while seven others are in critical condition in a fatal accident along the Kwahu Tafo-Nketepa Road in the Eastern Region.

Four of the injured including the driver are receiving treatment at Kwahu Tafo Clinic while the rest including a pregnant woman and a child, who are in critical conditions, have been rushed to the Atibie Hospital and St.Joseph Hospital in Koforidua.

The accident occurred Friday at about 3:00pm when a faulty tipper Truck registered GM-5026-12 carrying traders from Miaso to Nketepa failed break while descending a hill and somersaulted .

The shaft reportedly detached from the vehicle.

The deceased, all male, were sitting on the farm produce being transported at the bucket of the truck.

According to the driver, the truck was faulty hence was undergoing repairs at the mechanic shop but he was pressured by the traders to intervene to convey their produce to the market.

Financial Clearance to Employ Nurses Contrary to the claims by some nurses that there hasn’t been any recruitment like the president said in the State of the Nations Address, the Ministry of health in a statement said it had received clearance from the Ministry of Finance to recruit 14,254 nurse assistants who passed their exams in 2016 from Government institutions. The statement said the ministry “has received financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance to employ 14,254 nurse assistants (clinical and preventive) from government nursing training institutions and the names have been verified by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. This clearance took effect from 1st February, 2019.” The ministry of health has also issued the number of nurse assistants (clinical and preventive) for allocation to each agency for posting to their respective health facilities. RAINFALL CAUSED HAVOC AT ADANSI NORTH DISTRICT, A/R. Torrential rains that fell on Saturday February 2, 2019. at about 5:30am has cause a lot of havoc in the Adansi North District. The rains destroyed properties worth thousands of cedis which includes School, Poultry farms of which about four hundred and fifty (450) poultry birds were killed.
