NORTH EAST REGION CREATED; NALERIGU IS CAPITAL The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 12th February, 2019, presented Constitutional Instrument No. 116 (C.I 116) to the Overlord of Mamprugu, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, head of a delegation from the North East Region, signifying, officially, the creation of the region. At a ceremony at Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo stated that he has charged the Minister for the Northern Region, Hon. Salifu Saeed, to act as caretaker Minister for the North East Region, until a substantive Minister is appointed. “Secondly, Nalerigu has been chosen as the capital of the North East Region. I want to assure residents of the Region, however, that Government projects and structures will be equitably spread across the Region,” the President added. JOHN BOADU COMMISSION PARTY OFFICE The General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, on Saturday, February 9, 2019, commissioned an ultramodern party office in one of the party’s traditional towns, Tolon, in the Northern Region. The office complex was constructed and donated to the party by a young businessman and party sympathizer, 33-year old, Abdul Malik Alhassan, for use as the Tolon constituency office. The party’s rank and file in the constituency greeted the occasion with a jamboree, essentially setting the entire Tolon township agog, as evidence of their immeasurable excitement. DISCLAIMER: JOHN BOADU’S DRIVER WAS NOT ARRESTED The attention of Mr. John Boadu, the NPP General Secretary, has been drawn to a reportage on Joy News, video of which has gone viral on social media, involving the arrest of one Evans Kwarfo, said to be involved in illegal small scale mining, who claimed to be the driver of the NPP chief scribe. He was also alleged to have attempted bribing the anti-galamsey task force, ostensibly to secure his freedom. Mr. John Boadu wishes to state emphatically and for the avoidance of doubt that, he has no driver by name, Evans Kwarfo. He has ONLY ONE DRIVER by name, KWAME AMO, who lives in Accra. Kwame Amo does not own a mining concession in the Ashanti Region or anywhere for that matter, and certainly, could not have been arrested for this offense as claimed in the Joy News reportage. Never did any sane Ghanaian or we of the above organisation in the diaspora ever imagine that a former president who is seeking his party’s nomination as a flag bearer, in a bid to wrestle power in the future will make such a callous statement. The evidence has always been there, and it is obvious that some individuals of a blood thirsty Revolutionary party are trying to outdo each other in callousness. We believe that former president Mahama’s insensitive and reckless statement must be condemned by all Ghanaians who cherish the peace on the land.
