JUDGE SLAPPED TWO ROBBERS WITH 80 YEARS JAIL TERM.


A Wa High Court  presided over by Justice Kwesi Boakye has convicted two armed robbers to a total of 80 years with hard labour after they were found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.


The two including 47-year-old Fuseini Sinkare and his accomplice Ali Sulemana,  27 were convicted on their own pleas of guilty and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on each count to run concurrently.
Fuseini Sinkare it is gathered has been fingered in series of robberies and other criminal activities including the killing of a policeman at Wichau in the Wa District of the Upper West Region.

He admitted in open court he has inflicted multiple machete wounds on his victims and pleaded with the trial judge to temper justice with mercy and mitigate his sentence but he would not accept any of that.
The Sissala Divisional Police Commander, DSP Stephen Abanga disclosed that the suspect until his arrest was on their wanted list for a very long time but indicate that the main architect was still at large and is being hunted down.
It would be recalled that  in January this year a report was made on  how three cross border robbers with huge cash both ll foreign and local domination with other stolen items was arrested at a local guest house at Tumu, the Sissala East District capital.

The suspects include Fuseini Sinkare and Ali Sulemana who are said to be operating along Jirapa,  Hamile and areas dotted between  Ghana and Burkina Faso border according to the Divisional Police Commander.

According to the police Chief, they had intelligence that Fuseini who is wanted in connection with series of robberies within the area, was in town and it was gathered that he was set for an operation after the meeting.
Based on the information, the police moved in and arrested suspects Fuseini Sinkare and Ali Sulemana who had been put at a location awaiting directives on where their operation will be.
Upon interrogation, they told Police that it was one Yahaya from Nankwawie, near Tumu who brought them to assist in robberies and that they have three single barrel guns which they cut shot with Yahaya currently on the run.
They led the police to Yahaya’s house at Nankwawie but he had bolted even before they arrived.
A search in his room revealed a cutlass which Fuseini confessed they used the previous night for robbery operation between Jirapa and Hamile.
A search on the two arrested  suspects revealed 16 Android smart phones, 1 IPad Huawei phone, one laptop, GGH¢ 2,263.00, CFA  8,000 and WU JIAO 10.

The two were subsequently arraigned before a court, charged with the offence and convicted on their own pleas of guilty.
