He has been described as a man of honest, brilliant and intelligent.

The media Speaking to some Ghanaians after the Director of Operations at National Security appeared before the commission, some exclaimed "Wooow this is the kind of man everyone will want in his/ her family."

Some said , they will even name their yet to be born child after him.

The Director of Operations at National Security is blaming a militia affiliated with the main opposition party for the violence that marred the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election in Accra.

Colonel Michael Opoku said one of the men arrested by the police is a known member of the Hawks, a militia linked to the National Democratic Congress.

“When you google for information of Hawks, you will see him…I’m told he is the chairman of the Hawks organisation”, he told the Commission of Inquiry investigating the violence.


According to the narrative of the National Security Director, masked operatives together with a SWAT team stormed a house of the NDC parliamentary candidate suspecting an illegal possession and use of weapons.

Col. Opoku said, gunshots were first fired from the house as the SWAT team encountered a hostile crowd gathering around the house.

Nine suspects were arrested in the process.

 Colonel, however, revealed that pro-NDC militia, the Hawks, moved to Accra from Tamale in the Northern region and Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.

According to Colonel, they had intelligence on arms movement into the constituency ahead of the by-elections.

And as Security Intelligent Unit, 'they can not sit on the fence  '  without checking and so they have to move in to check.

The Hawks in the past 48 hours have also been linked to a tragic shooting incident at the Ashanti region head office of the NDC in Kumasi.

Whereby the police have issued names and pictures of the below "HAWKS' members as wanted.

They are: ELEMENT,AKON,
HUSSEIN BARI ALIAS WARRIOR, ROCK
,SANNI MOHAMMED ALIAS COMMANDO AND MALLAM.

RAINFALL CAUSED HAVOC AT ADANSI NORTH DISTRICT, A/R. Torrential rains that fell on Saturday February 2, 2019. at about 5:30am has cause a lot of havoc in the Adansi North District. The rains destroyed properties worth thousands of cedis  which includes School, Poultry farms of which  about four hundred and fifty (450) poultry birds were killed.
