Kwahu accident 4 dead, 7 injured


At least four persons, all traders, have been confirmed dead while seven others are in critical condition in a fatal accident along the Kwahu Tafo-Nketepa Road in the Eastern Region.


Four of the injured including the driver are receiving treatment at Kwahu Tafo Clinic while the rest including a pregnant woman and a child, who are in critical conditions, have been rushed to the Atibie Hospital and St.Joseph Hospital in Koforidua.

The accident occurred Friday at about 3:00pm when a faulty tipper Truck registered GM-5026-12 carrying traders from Miaso to Nketepa failed break while descending a hill and somersaulted .

The shaft reportedly detached from the vehicle.

The deceased, all male, were sitting on the farm produce being transported at the bucket of the truck.

According to the driver, the truck was faulty hence was undergoing repairs at the mechanic shop but he was pressured by the traders to intervene to convey their produce to the market.

SUSPECTS JAMES ANAN AND EBENEZER TORTO IN POLICE CUSTODY. WITH THE  BLUE ROYAL MOTOR BIKE IMPOUNDED AND SHARP KNIFE RETRIEVED. THE LADY HOWEVER SUSTAINED SOME BODILY INJURIES. THEY SHALL BE PROCESSED FOR COURT SOON,  POLICE SAID.

NO CAUSE FOR ALARM ON CORONAVIRUS SUSPECTED CASES: DR. BADU SARKODIE.

Dr. Badu Sarkodie, Director Public Health of Ghana Health Service has called on Ghanaians to stay calm on suspected Coronavirus in Ghana. Speaking to Oman news on Thursday, Dr. Sarkodie disclosed that, out of four suspected cases recorded in the country so far, all prove negative. Particularly on the Chinese and Argentine nationals suspected cases at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Samples has been taken to Nuguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research and the results will be ready by close of Thursday. He therefore called on Ghanaians not to fear nor panic at all, however, they should adhere to  cough and sneezing etiquette and improved personal hygiene such as regular hand-washing with soap and water.
