NO CAUSE FOR ALARM ON CORONAVIRUS SUSPECTED CASES: DR. BADU SARKODIE.



Dr. Badu Sarkodie, Director Public Health of Ghana Health Service has called on Ghanaians to stay calm on suspected Coronavirus in Ghana.


Speaking to Oman news on Thursday, Dr. Sarkodie disclosed that, out of four suspected cases recorded in the country so far, all prove negative.

Particularly on the Chinese and Argentine nationals suspected cases at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Samples has been taken to Nuguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research and the results will be ready by close of Thursday.

He therefore called on Ghanaians not to fear nor panic at all, however, they should adhere to  cough and sneezing etiquette and improved personal hygiene such as regular hand-washing with soap and water.

Currently, there is no cure but treatment is mainly symptomatic.


That notwithstanding, Dr. Sarkodie admitted there are lapses between Private Health Facilities and that of Government towards national preparedness plan.

Therefore, all private health facilities will be brought on board to ensure effective collaboration.

Meanwhile, Government of Ghana has allocated an amount of  cedi equivalent of Ghc 2.5 million cedis as start up towards the implementation of the initial response for national preparedness plan.

The Health Ministry has initiated a process to procure Ten Thousand (10000) pieces of personal protective equipment for the use of all front-line workers.

Insurance cover for all front- line works has also been considered.

Other measures also includes screening at the various entry points in the country especially the heavy traffic entry points.

Non-contact and walk-through thermometers are been placed at Kotoka International Airport and other designated points of entry to screen for fever.

Tema General Hospital, Ga East Municipal Hospital, Ridge and Police Hospitals have been designated as Treatment Centres as well as all the Teaching Hospitals and Regional Hospitals have potential capacity to treat cases.

IN AN ATTEMPT  TO RUN FOR HER LIFE,  SHE FELL AND SUSPECT ATTACKED HER ON THE GROUND. LUCK ELUDED THEM WHEN THE COMPLAINANT SHOUTED FOR HELP AND SUSPECTS WERE ARRESTED AND BROUGHT TO THE STATION. SUSPECTS JAMES ANAN AND EBENEZER TORTO IN POLICE CUSTODY. WITH THE  BLUE ROYAL MOTOR BIKE IMPOUNDED AND SHARP KNIFE RETRIEVED. THE LADY HOWEVER SUSTAINED SOME BODILY INJURIES. THEY SHALL BE PROCESSED FOR COURT SOON,  POLICE SAID.
