NANA BAFFOUR SEKYERE BAMFO POKU (I) INSTALLED ANKOBIA HENE OF AKYEM ABODOM.


The Omanhene of Akyem Abodom Traditional Area, Abodomhene Nana  Barimah Kwame Boadi III, and the kingmakers of the Traditional Council have, in accordance with the tradition and customs of the area, formally installed Nana Baffour Sekyere Bamfo Poku I as the maiden  Ankobia hene of the area at a colourful ceremony held at Akyem Abodom in the Eastern Region of Ghana durbar grounds on Saturday,March 9, 2019.

The Ankobia stool has been vacant since the inception of the town and  has been described by the kingmakers of the Traditional Council as a significant position towards the rapid development of the area and the welfare of the residents.


Nana Baffour Sekyere Bamfo Poku I, in his acceptance speech, gave the assurance that he would take his new role very seriously and deliver as expected.

“I want to assure Nananom that,I will take my responsibility very seriously and I will do everything to uphold the dignity of this office and I will not let you down in any undertakings that I have to do,” Nana Poku I said.

He  also promised to raise funds to support pressing  developmental projects in the area, paramount among them, he outlined, are the construction of market sheds for the Akyem Abodom market and upgrade the commercial area, provision of new health post with accomodation facilities to replace the current CHIP Compound facility in the area, a new police post for the area to curb the increasing crime rates and illegal activities among the youth in the area and education logistics to support the free compulsory primary and basic education in the area to improve upon the literacy rate of the pupils.

"I cannot do all these alone, hence the need for everyone to support in diverse ways and through my special fund raising for the development of Akyem Abodom," he said.

Nana Poku I also promised to collaborate with state institutions to spearhead the improvement of existing facilities and the provision of new infrastructure development such as road network from kade municipality through Akyem Abodom and nearby towns.


"The deplorable nature of our roads, as you all witnessed on your way here, is a source of worry for the people of this area, which needs to be addressed by the state institutions to save the rural folks in the transportation of their farm products," he explained.

Present at the well-attended ceremony was the Municipal Chief Executive for Kade, Seth Antwi Boasiako, Member of Parliament for Kade Kwabena Tinyase, Chairman of the occasion Chief Superintendent S.K. Kwakye, Friends of Tema Group, members of the Akyem Abodom Traditional Council and chiefs of nearby towns Osabarima Ofosuhene Apenteng II Asuomhene, Osabarima Baah Nteku Asuom Mintahene, Osabarima Nana Sarpong Kumankoma II Adonkrono Hene, Nana Appiah Bediako III Juaven Santahene and Nana Obaatan II, Fante Gomao Obuasehene.

The rest were Nana Barima Frimpong Pramkesehene,Nana Barima Amoah Bosompem II, Nana Yaw adu Abaam Amankrado, Nana Baffour Nana Aomaning, Nana Nkansah Acheampong  Asante Juaben- Nseneahene and Nana Obeng Okro Yeboah.

TWIFO HEMANG LOWER DENKYIRA DCE  nominee Confirmed.  President Nana Addo Dankwa -Akufo Addo nominee as the  District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District in the Central Region, Mr. Kennedy Sarpong was on  Thursday, June 13,2019. Confirmed by the Assembly Members with 78 percent endorsement out of the total votes cast at an  emergency meeting held by the Assembly. The new DCE, Hon. Kennedy Sarpong, garnered 19  votes of the 24 member Assembly representing 78 percent in favor,with 5 votes  against. This has secured his mandate as the head of the District Assembly of the stipulated term of office. Prior to his confirmation,the DCE was rejected by the Assembly Members on the first meeting.
