GHANA SIGNS €40M EU AGREEMENT TO PROMOTE INVESTMENT, JOB CREATION

Ghana has signed a €40 million facility grant with the European Union (EU) aimed at promoting investments and job creation in the country.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah today at a press briefing in Accra.

The financing agreement which is the last programme to be signed from Ghana’s indicative allocation of 323 million Euros under the 11th European Development Fund and National Indicative Programme spans between 2014 and 2020.

"The Programme focuses on the areas of business climate, public financial governance and employment and its main objectives are to promote domestic and foreign investments enable businesses to spearhead economic transformation and create employment," he said.

"It will also strengthen public financial governance and boost domestic revenue mobilization as well as the fight against corruption.

"Finance Minister, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta and the EU Ambassador to Ghana Ms Diana Acconcia, have signed the agreement expected to also promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ghana".

Mr Oppong Nkrumah added that the funds will be managed by the Ghanaian government and the programme is aligned with President Akufo-Addo’s vision of Ghana Beyond Aid.

FINANCIAL LOSS IN TEMA BY TMA FORMER MCE. A 12 unit shop built at a cost of three hundred thousand  Ghana Cedis (GHC300,000) by the former Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Tema ,Ashai Odamteen ,has been declared structurally weak for commercial and human habitation by engineers from Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA)after a structural integrity test of the facility conducted. RAINFALL CAUSED HAVOC AT ADANSI NORTH DISTRICT, A/R. Torrential rains that fell on Saturday February 2, 2019. at about 5:30am has cause a lot of havoc in the Adansi North District. The rains destroyed properties worth thousands of cedis  which includes School, Poultry farms of which  about four hundred and fifty (450) poultry birds were killed. According to, Ashanti Regional National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Coordinator,Kwabena Nsenkyire, who visited the scene said, no casualty was recorded,however, about 700 people were affected.
